Tellers
1) What this ministry is…
Tellers collect donations from the collection plates each Sunday after the 10:30 service and work in pairs to sort, count, and accurately record the weekly contributions before making the deposit when they are finished.
2) Are meetings held? How much time is involved?
Tellers are scheduled once or twice a month, and the process usually takes half an hour to 45 minutes to complete. Telling is done immediately after the 10:30 service. If you were to attend another service, you would need to be at the church by 11:30 on the day you were scheduled to be a teller. The treasurer trains new tellers on the computer system that is used to record the donations, and that training would be in addition to actual teller assignments.
3) Are any special talents or qualifications needed?
Any accounting or money handling experience would be useful for a teller but certainly is not required. New tellers are paired with more seasoned tellers to learn the counting and recording process and will remain with an experienced teller until he or she is comfortable with assignment.
4) Who is the contact person (or persons)?
Anyone interested in becoming a teller should contact the treasurer
