1) What this ministry is...
The book club offers fellowship and education. The club meets monthly during the school year to discuss the selected book. Selections, based on members’ recommendations, all have a spiritual dimension.
2) Are meetings held? How much time is involved?
Meetings are held on the third Sunday of the month from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Dates, places, and book selections are announced in The Lion’s Roar and in the Sunday bulletin. Members need individual reading time, of course, though if someone doesn’t quite finish a book, that’s o.k. On the other hand, sometimes members read an extra book or two by the author under discussion. Reading time, in other words, varies. Hosting revolves among members, and the host usually provides a beverage and a light snack.
3) Are any special talents or qualifications needed?
Reading, talking, and listening are the major qualifications.
4) How does someone get involved?
Talk to Mary Jane Humphrey, Andrea Nelson, or any other regular participant, or just show up at a meeting. Occasional participants are welcome.
5) What could improve this ministry?
More people. Fresh points of view make for livelier discussions.
6) Who is the contact person (or persons)?
Mary Jane Humphrey, 489-4282, or Andrea Nelson 423-0663.
