1) What this ministry is...
The ministry is fellowship and special events for students, faculty and staff. We have a study lounge Sunday and Wednesday evenings during the semester with additional hours during dead week and finals. Food and drinks are donated. Volunteers staff the lounge.
2) Are meetings held? How much time is involved?
Meetings are held monthly or as needed. Recurring annual events include New Student Enrollment in June and July, the Big Red Welcome in late August and a Christmas Party. For two years, we've had a Lion's Tailgate Party in our courtyard two hours before each home football game. On the average, we take one hour per month for meetings then time as needed for events; volunteers attend events and provide food.
3) Are any special talents or qualifications needed?
Interest in people of all ages is helpful. Desire to serve, and give of self for building relationships and community within the church and on behalf of people's relationships with God is the core of ministry.
4) How does someone get involved?
Get involved by expressing interest and attending the next scheduled meeting.
5) What could improve this ministry?
This ministry often has good ideas. Ministry for and with faculty, staff and students will be improved as more people participate in the planning and offering of activities through the church, to the Campus. We especially are improving by planning and budgeting 12-18 months ahead and having events early in the school year.
6) Who is the contact person (or persons)?
Contact Father Jerry Thompson, Kelly Carlisle, Janet Davidson, Robert Kuzelka, Connie Backus-Yoder, Nathan Schulte, or Deacon Christine Grosh, 486-3259, to express your interest.
