Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday commemorates the Passover meal that Jesus ate with his disciples, at which he instituted the Eucharist and washed the disciples’ feet. At the end of the Eucharist, the altar area will be “striped” bare. The Gethsemene Watch (also called the Maundy Thursday Vigil) will begin afterwards. The Watch recalls Jesus’ rebuke to his disciples: “Can you not stay awake for one hour?” The Watch will end Friday at 8:00 am.
